After our visit to the pediatrician today, we stopped by the construction site to check on progress. Shelley got to see the kitchen counter tops and tile work for the first time in person. Needless to say, it was a nice to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Shelley checks out the view from our front door.

And likes what she sees in the kitchen…

Here’s the current view from the street. It looks like the driveway and sidewalk are about to be poured!

Growing up I always wondered where the sidewalk ends…

Happy St Patty’s Day to everyone! After watching the news for the first time in a long while, we realized today was a) Tuesday, and b) a holiday. That means Avery will officially be 5 days old! It’s wild how sleep deprivation makes days seem like years… so pre-school should be just around the corner, right???
At this point, Avery is becomming much more interactive and opening her eyes to explore the world. We took advantage of one of her “better” moments to snap some Glamour Shots for everyone. Our hearts absolutely melt each time we look at her.

The doctors and nurses at the Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital were absolutely amazing. They took great care of us and helped speed along the recovery. Shelley is still in a wee bit of pain and will be for a while, but we got the all clear and headed home late Saturday. After 4 nights in a fold out hospital bed, daddy’s back was quite ready for a real bed!
Here are a few of my favorite pics…

The grandfathers got a bit choked up the first time they met Avery…

All my girls!!!

Grandma Clark couldn’t be more happy to hold her new grand baby!

Mom and dad pose for a pic…

Like mother, like daughter…

Our chariot awaits!

But what’s a ride home without the perfect little outfit!

FINALLY HOME!! Welcome to the new center of our universe!

I’ve always had great admiration for my parents growing up, but never quite realized what they went through to raise me and my brother. Despite massive sleep deprivation, countless diapers, and a baby girl that can wail like the next American Idol, Shelley and I could not be more happy to have Avery in our lives. She’s our little miracle. Thanks again for the continued support, and I will post more pics as time permits!

Avery Kendall Clark was born on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 @ 5:29pm. She was 19.3 inches long and weighed 6 lbs 9 ounces! Sorry for not posting sooner, but daddy has been busy changing diapers and caring for Avery while Shelley gets some much needed rest. I’m actually typing this post from the hospital using my laptop’s wi-fi.
After 12 hours of induced labor (and a very helpful epidural), the medical team determined Avery’s head and body were both twisted at a bad angle with the cord around her neck, so we immediately went in for an emergency c-section. Shelley and Avery are recovering just fine, and all of us are looking forward to going home. Based on the great progress so far, it looks like we might check out sometime this weekend. We’ve got a BUNCH of great pics, but just posting a few for now until we get back home.
Here’s our baby girl… fresh from the nursery!!!

Mommy gets to hold Avery for the very first time!

Here’s our second family pic of the day…

And here’s our first family pic!!!

Daddy’s first time to hold his baby girl! While they cleaned up mommy, Avery managed to get me wrapped around her teeny tiny little finger. I was a weeping mess!!

Thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful emails and phone calls. We really appreciate all the love and support. More pics to come!!!

This is certainly a big week for the entire family. It looks like the Dr’s are going to kick things into gear and let us meet our little girl on Wednesday. We just started week 39, so everything should be ready to go! I’ll do my best to keep the blog up to date, and will certainly have lot’s of pics in the coming weeks.
Here’s my beautiful bride checking out the front porch!
