D-Town visits H-Town!

January 5th, 2009

The Dallas clan came to town for our baby shower this past weekend.  After the festivities we took a quick drive to the construction site.  I’m still amazed at how much gets completed each week.  The builder recently finished installing windows, A/C units, duct work, and capped it off with a roof!  Here are a few pics of the family out front.

What has 4 thumbs and can’t wait to move in???  These guys!!!

The work continues…

I stopped by the lot during lunch today and grabbed some new pics.  On Friday the framers finished the stairway to the second floor garage so I was anxious to check it out.  I’m also trying out the “gallery” feature of this blog software, so hopefully it looks ok.  There were quite a few pics I wanted to display.  You can click on each one to see larger image (use Back button to return).

The second floor takes shape!

The weather in Houston was pretty bad today, so I was only able to get a few shots of the framing.  Will post more when the lot dries out a bit and I take a few more pics.  Can’t wait to drink some lemonade on that front porch!!!  Click to view larger image.

Inside and around the house

Here are a few shots we took when the lot was dry.

Shelley checks out her new kitchen…
She is standing behind the framing for the island.

Here’s our stairway…
The doorway on the left leads to our master bedroom, guest bath, and nursery.

This is the back patio.  We modified the plans to cover it with a roof.
Since the pier/beam foundation is 36 inches off the ground, the patio
has a really cool vaulted feel.

Let the framing begin!!!

November 25th, 2008

On Monday morning, David Weekley’s engineering company approved our sub-floor, so today the first floor is beginning to take shape! It’s amazing how much these guys can accomplish in just a few hours.

Here’s what it looked like this afternoon…

And this is my new favorite view…

Here’s a sequence of pics to get you up to speed.
Beginning with open lot and ending with first floor framing.
